Dr. S. R. Mediratta
Dr. S.R. Mediratta passed his Bachelor of Technology in Metallurgical Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay obtained his Ph.D. from Banaras Hindu University.
Winner of various distinctions and awards including Best Metallurgist Award from Ministry of Steel & Mines; Vasvik Industrial Research Award Outstanding and Distinguished Alumnus Award by IIT Bombay for his outstanding contributions in the field of Product Development and Material Science &Technology;, he is widely known in academia, research and industry circles for his competence, expertise and experience. He has more than 130 paper and 7 patents to his credit. He is a Life Fellow of the Indian Institute of Metals.
Widely traveled to many countries for Technology Selection/Appreciation including: Finland; Netherland; Belgium; UK; Italy; Russia; Germany; Norway; Austria; USA; and Australia, Dr. Mediratta's special areas of interest are: Promotion of Steel in different segments of industry; Life Cycle Analysis; Management of Production Departments, Research & Control Laboratories, R&D; Departments; Technology Management; Production & Processing of Alloy Steel; Steel Product Development; Environment Management; Process Metallurgy; and Mechanical Metallurgy.
After working for 35 years in different capacities in different units of SAIL including R & D Centre for Iron & Steel, Dr. Mediratta is heading the Institute for Steel Development & Growth as Director General since July 1998.
Dr. Mediratta is the Project Director of Phase II of the Project relating to organizing 3 National Workshops on Structural Steel Design for University Faculty so as to expose 150 teachers to the advanced Teaching Resource Material developed by the Expert Team under the leadership of Dr. R. Narayanan, Project Director of Phase I.
Dr. Tarun Kant
Dr. Tarun Kant is Professor of Civil Engineering in Indian Institute of Technology Bombay. He received his BSc, BTech (Hons) in civil engineering and M.Tech in Structural Engineering from University of Allahabad, IIT, Bombay and IIT, Kanpur respectively between 1962 and 1969. He obtained his PhD degree from the IIT-Bombay in 1977.
Dr. Tarun Kant's research interests lie in the areas solid mechanics, plates, shells, fibre reinforced polymer composites, refined higher- order theories, thermal stresses, transient dynamics, finite element and other numerical methods, use of polymer composites in construction, composite & computational mechanics.
He has published over 90 Research Paper in National and International Journals, edited books and discharged his duties in editorial board of a number of Technical Journals on his subject. He has supervised 18 PhD thesis and over 52 M.Tech dissertations and also carried out 12 sponsored projects. For distinguished contribution in Engineering, he has been honoured by being elected a member of a number of National and International Technical Societies.
Being a renowned academician he has been honoured with vrious prizes, scholarships, and fellowships including FNAE, FIE, FAeSI etc.
Dr.T K Bandyopadhyay
Dr. T K Bandyopadhyay obtained his Bachelor Degree in Civil Engineering and Master Degree in Civil (Structural) Engineering from Jadavpur University in 1969 and 1971 respectively.
He worked in design offices of different organizations including RDSO, MAMC, DCL and Kuljian Corporation Inc. (USA) up to 1999 and was involved in design, standardization and management of various projects pertaining to bridges, bulk material handling, port modernization and coal washeries. As Chief Engineer (Civil and Structural) of Development Consultants Ltd and Kuljian Corporation Inc. (USA), he was responsible for structural design of various mineral beneficiation projects including iron ore, magnesite, zinc, as well as glass, cement, steel and power plants in India and abroad.
On behalf of DCL, he was a proof consultant for the World Bank funded bridge project designed by COWI Consult of Denmark.
He obtained PhD Degree in Engineering in 1989 and published a number of technical papers in international journals including American Concrete Institute (ACI), Structural Mechanics in Reactor Technology (SMiRT, Germany), ELSEVIER SCIENCE, Netherlands etc.
Currently, he is Deputy Director General & HOD (Technical Development & Standard) and apart from all technical activities of the Institute, he is involved in modification / revision of a few Indian Codes. He has presented a paper in the Conference organized by Engineering Foundation (New York) on Composite Construction at Banff, Alberta, Canada. He also co-authored a technical paper presented in Budapest, Hungary. He visited Steel Construction Institute, UK for for exposure on steel intensive projects, designs.
He is Member of the Indian Society of Earthquake Technology (ISET) at Roorkee, and Fellow of the Institution of Engineers, India.
Dr.(Mrs)Pratima Rani Bose
Dr. (Mrs) Pratima Rani Bose is a Professor of Civil Engineering in Delhi College of Engineering, Delhi. She received her BE and ME degrees from University of Roorkee. She obtained her PhD degree from the IIT-Delhi.
Dr. Bose is presently working in the area of Seismic Vulnerability Assessment and Retrofitting of Existing Buildings. She has significant contribution in the development of Indian Codal Provisions related with Earthquake Engineering as Member of Sectional Committee with Bureau of Indian Standards.
She has published more than forty five technical papers in National and International Journals, Conferences and won the Best Paper Awards of Indian Society of Earthquake Technology for her papers as co- author, on Earthquake Damage Survey of Latur Earthquake and On Restricted Movements of Bridge Bearings.
She has guided twenty five M.E thesis and involved in other Ph.D and ME thesis guidance.
Dr.Sudhendu Saha
Dr. Sudhendu Saha graduated in Civil Engineering in 1963 and also obtained his degree in Master of Engineering from Bengal Engineering College. He got his Ph.D degree from IIT Kharagpur. Dr. Saha is a Fellow & Professional Engineer of the Institution of Engineers(I), and Member of a number of National & International Professional Bodies.
Dr. Saha is presently serving the same Institution (University) as Professor of Civil Engineering. Formerly, he held the positions of the Head of the Dept. of Civil Engineering, and also Dean of Research & Consultanc.
Dr.Saha has about 34 years' of experience in teaching & research, and 25 years' of experience in Industrial Consultancy in the areas of his expertise in Geotechnical Engineering, Structural Engineering, and Construction Technology & Management. Dr. Saha has got a large number of publications in National & International Journals & Conferences.
