Dr. Satish Kumar  obtained his Bachelor�s degree in Civil Engineering from Govt. College of Engineering, Pune in 1987. Subsequently he got his Masters degree from IIT Bombay and Doctoral degree from Nagoya University, Japan.

In an interesting career, which involved switching from academics to professional practice and back, he was exposed to various aspects of Civil Engineering such as Construction, Design, Consultancy and Research at a multinational steel company. He has published several papers in international journals and conferences in the area of Steel Structures and Earthquake Resistant Design. Currently he is working as an Assistant Professor in Structural Engineering at the Department of Civil Engineering, IIT Madras.
