Dr. S. Seetharaman obtained his first Degree
in Civil Engineering in 1971 from Sambalpur University, a Master's
Degree from the Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore and a PhD
degree from the Indian Institute of Technology Madras. He joined
Structural Engineering Research Centre Madras, in 1974. He is a
member of the Institution of Engineers (India), Computer Society
of India and Indian Society for non-destructive Testing. He has
published 35 papers in various Journals and Conferences and contributed
chapters on Fatigue Analysis and Fracture Mechanics in edited books.
He has worked in several areas of Structural Engineering, including
Optimisation of Steel Framed Structures, Computer-aided Design,
Offshore Structural Dynamics and Fatigue and Fracture.

Presently he works as an Assistant Director in
the SERC, heading a group involved in the development of Computer
Software for Steel Industrial Structures.
He has visited the Federal Republic of Germany on the CSIR-DADD
Exchange Programme, during 1983.
