Mr. Arul Jayachandran graduated from Madurai
Kamaraj University in Civil Engineering in 1984 with a distinction.
After brief stint at L&T; Chennai, he joined Thiagarajar College
of Engineering, Madurai, and Tamil Nadu as an Associate Lecturer
and taught undergraduate students for two years. He gained his M.S.
degree from IIT Madras for his work on "Non-linear Instability Analysis
of Stiffened and Unstiffened Plates". He joined the Structural Engineering
Research Centre Chennai in 1989 and since then he is researching
in the area of Instability Analysis and Design of Steel Structural
Systems. He has a few international and national publications to
his credit. He was a member of the SERC, Chennai team that won the
CSIR Technology Prize in 1999. He is currently pursuing his Ph.D.
at IIT Madras, while continuing to work as a scientist at SERC.
