Dr. T K Bandyopadhyay obtained his Bachelor
Degree in Civil Engineering and Master Degree in Civil (Structural)
Engineering from Jadavpur University in 1969 and 1971 respectively.
He worked in design offices of different organizations
including RDSO, MAMC, DCL and Kuljian Corporation Inc. (USA) up
to 1999 and was involved in design, standardization and management
of various projects pertaining to bridges, bulk material handling,
port modernization and coal washeries. As Chief Engineer (Civil
and Structural) of Development Consultants Ltd and Kuljian Corporation
Inc. (USA), he was responsible for structural design of various
mineral beneficiation projects including iron ore, magnesite, zinc,
as well as glass, cement, steel and power plants in India and abroad.

On behalf of DCL, he was a proof consultant for
the World Bank funded bridge project designed by COWI Consult of
Denmark.
He obtained PhD Degree in Engineering in 1989 and
published a number of technical papers in international journals
including American Concrete Institute (ACI), Structural Mechanics
in Reactor Technology (SMiRT, Germany), ELSEVIER SCIENCE, Netherlands
etc.
Currently, he is Deputy Director General & HOD
(Technical Development & Standard) and apart from all technical
activities of the Institute, he is involved in modification / revision
of a few Indian Codes. He has presented a paper in the Conference
organized by Engineering Foundation (New York) on Composite Construction
at Banff, Alberta, Canada. He also co-authored a technical paper
presented in Budapest, Hungary. He visited Steel Construction Institute,
UK for for exposure on steel intensive projects, designs.
He is Member of the Indian Society of Earthquake
Technology (ISET) at Roorkee, and Fellow of the Institution of Engineers,
India.
