Steel is the most trusted material worldwide. It is strong, sleek, usuful as well as beautiful. It is safe enough to control fire damage in such pandals allowing people to escape safely. It can be erected, dismantled and stored easily. Steel has stronger life allowing multiple uses and also have an end use value. Steel is able to withstand temparature upto 400-600' C without major loss of strength, and it also provides about 1-2 hours fire rating depending upon sectoin thickness.

Thus, a pandal with steel skeleton (along with other fire proof material as per guidelines of the local authroty) will make our festivals, where such pandals, tents or shamianas are used, a much SAFER place

In order to promote the applications of structural steel as a material of construction and propagate the advantages of the steel intensive construction to the designers and architects, a four page colourful brochure titled Steel The Right Choice for Building Construction has been published. The brochure contains some of the excellent and recent photographs on steel intensive construction in buildings in India and abroad. The brochure also describes availability and application of various grades of steels in India, benefits of fast track steel intensive buildings and competitiveness of steel buildings.

A companion brochure entitled Pre-engineered Buildings has also been printed, which highlights: advantages of pre-engineered option, its broad range of application areas; painting system; thermal and acoustic insulation; profiles of cold formed sections; and common cold formed sections available in the country.

Ever since its first use in bridge in 1890,
Steel has remained the most trusted material of construction in medium and long span bridges. The first cast iron bridge gets back to 1779 in U.K., and before that arch bridges of stone and timber were built with very little option to designers and architects. Structural steel's excellent combination of strength, ductility, toughness and fatigue properties provides a most desirble solution for modern bridge construction under all weather conditions.

This brochure provides guidelines to practising Engineers for designing the paint systems for durability of steel structures like bridges, flyovers and buildings. Various paint systems indicated herein are available through leading paint manufacturers / suppliers in India
